After an average first half that saw Club America go into the locker room as 1-0 leaders over Estudiantes Tecos, the visitors have engineered an incredible comeback and a 2-1 victory at the Estadio Azteca. Club America Vs. Estudiantes Tecos: Visitors Pull Massive Upset, Win By 2-1 Score At Azteca
Tecos’ goals were both from dead balls, but both were absolute stunners. The equalizer was scored by Jorge Zamogilny, who put in a ridiculous header off of an indirect free kick, and the winner came on a curling 20 yard direct free kick from Rubens Sambueza, who entered the game at halftime as a substitute.
‘Chucho’ Cristian Benitez had a chance to score an equalizer late when America were granted a penalty kick, but the Ecuadorian superstar blasted his shot over the bar. Things fell apart at the end of the game as America grew more and more frustrated, with Erik Pimentel and Paul Aguilar both picking up red cards that will cause them to be suspended for America’s next league match.
