All injuries are bad news for both player and team, but it's less common for injuries to be foreboding, ominous things. Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau had a wrist injury earlier in the year. That's a pretty standard injury. But now he's dealing with an old nemesis, and that's scarier stuff. From Joe Christensen of the Minnesota Star-Tribune:

Justin Morneau has been diagnosed with mild concussion symptoms. Headache developed Monday. #Twins had him take base-line tests. It’s not automatically dire news, as Christensen followed that tweet with the following:

Morneau said his left shoulder would have been OK to play today. Headache has subsided. Will follow up with doctor Wed. Hopes to play soon. There is no indication yet that the Twins will need to place the first baseman on the DL. Still, it’s a reminder of how nefarious and mysterious concussions can be. Morneau missed most of 2010’s second half with a concussion after absolutely dominating in the first half. This year, he was having his worst season as a pro by far, hitting .227/.285/.333 in 264 at-bats while fighting off wrist and shoulder injuries.
