NFL Weekend Stars

This week featured a number of great performances, but two performers from the same team were perhaps the best on their respective side of the ball. That team was the Pittsburgh Steelers and those two players were Antonio Brown and Credzon Butler. Brown was the biggest offensive star of the week with 4 receptions for 137 yards and 2 TDs as well as returning 4 kicks for 107 yards. Credzon Butler posted 9 tackles, had a pass deflection, and returned an INT to the house for 95 yards. Follow the jump to see all of this weeks stars.

Offensive Stars -

Star No. 1 - Antonio Brown, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers - As I said above, the dude was on fire. He is poised for a breakout year this year and he could make an impact similar to the one Mike Wallace made in his rookie year using his superior speed to dominate nickel corners.

Star No. 2 - Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Buffalo Bills - Fitzpatrick was an incredible 11 for 12 with 165 yards, 2 TDs, and a perfect QB rating.

Star No. 3 - Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions - Stafford was also incredible. He was 12 for 14 with 200 yards, 2 TDs and a perfect QB rating. Me drafting him with the 1st pick of the 6th round of MTDs 16 team league is looking more and more like a huge steal (if he can stay healthy).

Honorable Mentions - Ben Roethlisberger, Roddy White, Andy Dalton, Aaron Rodgers, Curtis Painter, Reggie Wayne, Chad Henne, Larry Fitzgerald, Derek Hagan (OAK)

Defensive Stars -

Star No. 1 - Credzon Butler, CB, Pittsburgh Steelers - Butler was dominant as an outside corner and definitely cemented his spot on the Steelers roster. He had 9 tackles and an awesome INT return.

Star No. 2 - Lawrence Timmons, ILB, Pittsburgh Steelers - Timmons had 6 tackles and a 44 yard INT return. He looked dominant and was all over the place.

Star No. 3 - Von Miller, OLB, Denver Broncos - Miller posted 2 sacks and was all over the place for the Broncos.

Honorable Mentions - Thomas Davis (CAR), James Anderson, Derrick Johnson (KC), Jerod Mayo, Chris Culliver (SF),

Duds of the Week - Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick, QB, San Francisco 49ers - I had to post both of them as DOW because they were both so bad. Kaepernick was 6 for 16 with 52 yards, and INT, and a QB rating of 20.8. Smith was even worse with a 2 for 6 with 17 yards, an INT, and a 2.8 QB rating. Horrible.

Preseason MVP Race

Ben Roethlisberger - 1 HM and 1 SOW

Colt McCoy - 1 HM and 1 SOW

Philip Rivers - 1 HM and 1 SOW

Matthew Stafford - 1 HM and 1 SOW

Aaron Rodgers - 2 HM

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
