With more than half of the field in the clubhouse, Jason Day’s 7-under round has him atop the current leader of the 2011 World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Day birdied three holes to shoot a 32 on the front nine before adding four more birdies on the back nine. South Africa’s Rory Sabbatini, Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn and Americans D.A. Point, Stewart Cink, and Brandt Snedeker are all in the clubhouse at 4-under, three shots off the current lead.
South Korea’s Kyung-tae Kim is at four-under through seven holes, birdying the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 14th holes at he starts his round on the back nine. Sweden’s Fredrik Jacobson is also at four-under, birdying the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 6th holes on the front nine.
Phil Mickelson birdied the final two holes to finish the day at 3-under.
Appearing in his first tournament since May, Tiger Woods, with new caddy Bryon Bell, is on the course with his first round having just begun.
