Borussia Dortmund are looking so beautiful and so dominant through half an hour against Hamburg SV, the announcers on the American feed of the match can’t help but compare them to Barcelona. They’re now up on HSV by a score of 2-0, and they could easily have five or six at this point. They’ve been absolutely stellar, both on the counter-attack and through build-up play, and thanks to a goal by Mario Götze their lead has been doubled.

Though Götze’s run and finish were absolutely fantastic, striker Robert Lewandowski deserves much of the credit for the goal. Receiving a pass into his feet, with his back to goal, Lewandowski played an absolutely brilliant first touch backheel into the path of Götze, who placed the ball past Jaroslov Drobny into the back of the net with a composed finish.
The attack has been brilliant for Dortmund, but their defense and holding midfielder Sven Bender are simply dominant at the moment. Hamburg cannot build an attack to save their lives, and they are by no means a poor squad.
