At halftime of the final game of the World Football Challenge, FC Barcelona lead Club America by a score of 1-0 after a very solid 45 minutes of football. They've been far and away the superior team, and they should certainly have more than one goal. David Villa was the man who scored, but he's actually had a poor game and should have scored two or three more times.
Barcelona Vs. Club America 2011: Halftime, David Villa Goal Has Barca Up By 1-0 Score
For once, a friendly has an interesting tactical decision to talk about! With Lionel Messi still on holiday and vacant from the Barcelona team, Pep Guardiola has opted to play Thiago in his role, as opposed to the deeper role that he has played in previous friendlies. With Xavi coming into the team, Thiago was moved forward and the move has worked wonders. He's looked fantastic in the No. 10 role and he continues to be the story of Barca's preseason. It will be interesting to see how Guardiola fits him into the squad and what role(s) he plays in La Liga.
