Stars of the Week is back and ready to go for the season. This week was a not so fun week of football for me, as I had to watch Rutgers and the Steelers lose but there were a lot of impressive performances this week. After the jump, see the Stars of the Week and the Dud of the Week.

Offensive Stars

Star No. 1 - Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots - Brady put up 517 yards and 4 TDs. He was easily the biggest star and is probably the early favorite to win MVP.

Star No. 2 - Steve Smith, WR, Carolina Panthers - Smith looked like himself on Sunday, finishing with 8 receptions for 178 yards and 2TDs. He barely edged out Wes Welker for this spot.

Star No. 3 - Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers - Newton had an incredible start to his career, throwing for 422 yards and 2 TDs as well as rushing for one. This was the hardest one to pick as it came down to Newton, Welker, and Ray Rice for this final spot.

Honorable Mentions: Drew Brees, Wes Welker, LeSean McCoy, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cedric Benson, Ray Rice

Defensive Stars

Star No. 1 - Ed Reed, FS, Baltimore Ravens - Ed Reed started off the year with 2 INTs and was all over the place in the Ravens blowout of the Steelers.

Star No. 2 - Terrell Suggs, OLB, Baltimore Ravens - Suggs finished the game with 3 sacks for a total of 25 yards lost. He dominated the Steelers.

Star No. 3 - Joe Haden, CB, Cleveland Browns - Haden had 1 solo tackle, 2 assisted tackles, 1 sack, and five pass deflections. He was incredible despite his team struggling a lot.

Honorable Mentions: Lawrence Timmons, Ray Lewis, D'Qwell Jackson, Barrett Rudd, Chris Houston, Jason Pierre-Paul

Dud of the Week

Donovan McNabb, QB, Minnesota Vikings - McNabb was just 7-15 for 39 yards, 1TD and 1INT. Not the debut he wanted.

Now, here is how my scoring is going to work to determine my MVPs at the end of the year. A SOW (star of the week) will count as two points. An HM (honorable mention) will count as 1 point and a DOW (dud of the week) will count as -1 points. I will keep an excel file to keep track of this and will update you guys weekly.
