Blue Jays Vs. Rays: Tampa Bay Loses, 5-1, Falls 2.5 Behind Red Sox In Wild Card Standings
Second baseman Kelly Johnson drove in two runs and starting pitcher Brandon Morrow struck out nine over seven innings to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Friday night.

Fighting to stay alive in the Wild Card playoff race, Rays ace David Price gave up five hits, walked two and fanned seven in six innings of work, but it's his pair of throwing errors that led to three unearned runs in the third inning that could potentially haunt the 12-game winner throughout the offseason.
Price’s first throwing error put two runners on with one out, and the Jays’ first two runs scored on Price’s second throwing error of the inning. Johnson knocked in the last of those three runs in the third, and jumped on Price’s first offering to lead off the sixth inning with a home run to right field to extend the Jays’ lead to 5-0.
Designated hitter Johnny Damon scored the Rays only run on an RBI single by right fielder Matt Joyce.
The loss drops the Rays to 2.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox, and just a half-game up on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, in the American League Wild Card standings. Boston's Friday night game against the New York Yankees was rained out, while the Angels are opening up a weekend series at home against the Oakland A's.
