Glaring NFL Team Needs

Welcome back to our Glaring Team Needs series! Only the second week of the season has come and gone, but some think they can already tell how the season is going to end. I have never been able to comfortable declare anything this early. No professional sports season is shorter than than the NFL (one of the reasons I am not big on stats as a measuring stick), but no sport has as big swings and changes from week to week, where teams aren’t the same as they were in the beginning of the season. What you see now may not be what you’re seeing at the end of the season. Let take a look at how the Giants, Chiefs, and Ravens are looking now.

1. New York Giants - Biggest Need: OG

The Giants injury issues in their secondary are well documented, but after having spent a 2011 1st rounder on CB Prince Amukamara and when everyone is back healthy, it may not be as big an issue. They have also lost a few offensive weapons such as

Kevin Boss

and Steve Smith, but WR is looking to be deep next year and might not be prioritized. New York has, however, started to remake the offensive line. Adding a top talent O-lineman would help both facets of the offense.

2012 Draft Pick: Cordy Glenn, OG/OT Georgia

Glenn is playing left tackle this year for the

Georgia Bulldogs

, but is considered one of the better interior line prospects in 2012.

2. Kansas City Chiefs - Biggest Need: OG/OC The Chiefs are currently in the "lead" of the "Suck4Luck" campaign. I don't think any team is actively losing (too much money, ego involved) just to draft any one player no matter how coveted he may be. Outside of acquiring the first overall pick, KC would be another team that needs help on the interior of the offensive line. The offense has been horrible and a lot of that is because they can't block anyone. 2012 Draft Pick: Peter Konz, OC/OG Wisconsin Konz is another in a long line of tough, smart offensive lineman from Wisconsin.

3. Baltimore Ravens - Biggest Need: CB The Ravens have done a great job finding talent late in the draft and free agency to pair with Ed Reed. The CB core has plenty of decent players, but adding a top tier CB to lead the group will help the Baltimore D stay elite as the league become more accustomed to the spread game. 2012 Draft Pick: Brandon Boykins, CB Georgia Boykins has been a playmaker for the Georgia D and even the Georgia O this season. Good instincts and measurables will have him moving up boards in the off season.
