The Indianapolis Colts have yet to place Peyton Manning on injured reserve following a procedure he had on his neck, which suggests he could return at some point in the 2011 NFL season. But don't expect that to happen as Colts owner Jim Irsay reportedly told Super Bowl donors at a breakfast meeting on Monday not to expect Manning again until 2012.

This is coming from sources who spoke with WISH-TV in Indianapolis.
Sources at the breakfast meeting report Manning won’t practice again until December and may not play again until 2012.
This isn’t a huge surprise because I think most figured Manning would likely miss the season but the Colts haven’t put Manning on IR which told us that they were holding out hope he could play again. Apparently, that’s not the case.
Manning underwent surgery earlier this month, a surgery that the Colts confirmed and they called "uneventful". Manning attended the Colts Sunday Night Football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and sat in the coaches' booth.
The next step for the Colts, if they truly do expect him to miss the season, would be placing Manning on IR. That can’t make Colts fans at Stampede Blue very happy.
