NFL Stars of the Week - Week 3

This week featured so many incredible performances on both offense and defense. I again had to not include a 150 yard 1TD performance and a few 350 passing yard performances. Another great week for receivers.

Offensive Stars

Star No. 1 - Wes Welker, WR, New England Patriots - Welker was an absolute beast, posting 16 receptions for 217 yards and 2TDs. Beast mode

Star No. 2 - Torrey Smith, WR, Baltimore Ravens - Smith became the first person in the history of the NFL to have his first three catches go for touchdowns. Some of it was due to awful coverage but a lot was due to his speed. He finished with 5 receptions for 152 yards and 3TDs.

Star No. 3 - Jermichael Finley, TE, Green Bay Packers - Finley looked better than he ever has. He posted 7 receptions for 85 yards and 3TDs.

Honorable Mentions: Matthew Stafford, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, Darren McFadden, Fred Jackson, Victor Cruz

Defensive Stars

Star No. 1 - Jared Allen, DE, Minnesota Vikings - Allen posted 5 tackles and 3 sacks for 21 yards. For the first time all year he looked like himself.

Star No. 2 - Aaron Ross, DB, New York Giants - Ross had 4 tackles, 3 Pass Deflections, and 2 INTs for 19 yards. After being benched last week, I think its safe to say he will not be benched again.

Star No. 3 - Pat Angerer, LB, Indianapolis Colts - Angerer was the best player on the defensive side of the ball last week. He was involved in 21 tackles. He posted 12 solo tackles and 9 assisted tackles. He is the main reason why the Steelers could not get any run game going.

Honorable Mentions: Kenny Phillips, Kyle Arrington, Morgan Burnett, Calais Campbell, Ray Lewis

Dud of the Week - Andy Dalton, QB, Cincinnati Bengals - Dalton returned to himself after a great game last week. He was 17 for 32 for 157 yards, 2 INTs and a meager 40.8 QB Rating.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
