While this is an excellent college football game, it's overrated in terms of NFL Draft prospects. Arguably the two best prospects for this game -- LSU receiver Russell Shepard and Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris -- are both suspended.
LSU/Oregon NFL Draft prospects to watch
By default, Oregon running back LaMichael James is the top draft-eligible player in the game. James is a divisive prospect. On one hand, he's got excellent athleticism, speed and ability to elude defenders. On the other, he's unproven in the pass game and doesn't have the best playing strength.
Oregon's second running back, Kenjon Barner, may be just as good of a prospect as James. Barner is a little bigger, runs harder and excels on special teams.
Ducks tight end David Paulson is a solid all-around prospect. Read some notes on Paulson here.
LSU is pretty light on NFL prospects heading into this season after sending six players to the draft this year.
LSU's best player is junior cornerback Morris Claiborne. He led the Tigers with five interceptions last season but was overshadowed by former teammate Patrick Peterson last season. He's maybe not as strong as he should be, but plays with good instincts and anticipation.
Wide receiver Reuben Randle is the latest tall LSU wide receiver who struggles with inconsistency. Like Terrence Toliver and Brandon LaFell before him, Randle will make a few big plays but just as many bad ones.
