Recently, TV networks have cut back or cancelled daytime soap operas. They need not worry, as the Boston Red Sox are providing plenty of daytime drama on Friday, even though their season on the field ended Wednesday night in Baltimore, disastrously.
Red Sox Have ‘No Immediate Plans’ To Announce Terry Francona Is Leaving
Earlier Friday, SI.com’s Jon Heyman reported that the Red Sox and manager Terry Francona had agreed to “part ways”.
But now, a tweet from the official MLB Twitter account says, hold the phone:
BREAKING: Red Sox GM Theo Epstein says in statement “there are no immediate plans for an announcement” on manager Terry Francona.
And Brian MacPherson, Red Sox beat writer for the Providence Journal, tweeted this, early Friday afternoon, regarding the meeting between Francona and GM Theo Epstein:
Theo Epstein: “We all plan on taking some time to process the thoughts expressed in the meeting.”
So don’t count Francona out quite yet. And grab some popcorn. This show is turning out to be more interesting than almost any daytime serial.
