The game between Marshall and West Virginia (2:30 p.m., ESPN) features two of the nations premier pass rushers in the Herd's Vinny Curry and the Mountaineers' Bruce Irvin. Curry and Irvin are fairly similar as prospects. Both are athletic players who can get around the corner in a hurry.
Of the two, Curry projects better to stay in a 4-3 set because he's stronger and longer. He's fast off snap and plays with a high motor. Irvin exploded in his first year at West Virginia with 14 sacks. He's the more athletic of the two and will time better in the offseason.
Curry and Irvin aren't the only two pass rushers to watch in this game. West Virginia senior Julian Miller gets overshadowed by Irvin, but he's good getting off blocks and getting into the backfield. Last season he had 9 sacks and 14 tackles for loss.
Top NFL Draft pass rushers Vinny Curry, Bruce Irvin face off today
Mountaineers cornerback
benefits from the pressure Irvin and Miller provide. Receivers don’t often have enough time to get separation so it allows Tandy to use his strength to make a play on the ball. Tandy showed last season that he good hands, too, so he may see his opportunities decline as quarterbacks avoid his side of the field.
Junior West Virginia quarterback
showed flashes for NFL ability, but has to continuing developing this season.
In regard to NFL Draft prospects, Marshall has little else after Curry.
