Peyton Manning Neck Injury Requires New Surgery, According To Report

The Indianapolis Colts' worst fears may have come true, if a report by a radio host is to be believed. According to ESPN's 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis, Peyton Manning will need additional surgery on his neck. Some Colts fans describe the outlet as legit, but it's still just a report ... and other Colts fans aren't quite as convinced.

Manning had surgery on his neck back in May to repair a disk, which kept him out of the entire preseason.

This reported surgery would knock him out indefinitely, if it’s not just a rumor. Kerry Collins was drawn out of retirement during the last full week of August and had already been in line to start at quarterback for the Colts if Manning could not go. It now appears that the team will need to count on Collins for much longer than expected.

Over at 18 to 88, Nate Dunlevy breaks down a series of cryptic tweets from Colts owner Jim Irsay and wonders if he’s been hinting at Manning being lost for the season.

Manning signed a $90 million contract at the end of July, but Colts fans probably didn't expect Manning to miss significant time from the neck surgery. Hey, at least Curtis Painter isn't going to start for the Colts.
