Let’s try this again.

The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee postponed the start of Sunday’s Advocare 500. In fact, the forecast was so gloomy that NASCAR decided to dismiss the notion of running on Monday, choosing to not open the garage until 8 a.m. this morning.

While no one likes rain delays that run races in the middle of the work day, there’s reason for some optimism.

This race may run AFTER the work day. The forecast calls for 40% chance of rain in the morning followed by just a 20% chance in the afternoon. We may finally get a chance to see how the long-speculated Sprint Cup weekday prime-time race works out.

Kasey Kahne is still on the pole with Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, Brian Vickers and Jeff Gordon rounding out the starting top five.

Brad Keselowski, who’s finished no worse than third over the last four races, was the fastest in practice (in daylight when the race may be ran) and qualified eighth. He’ll be a threat if the past month holds any long-term value.

Even better news for Keselowski and teammate Kurt Busch is the fact that Dodge has won three of the last four races at Atlanta with Busch winning the final two spring races and Khane, the pole-sitter, winning in this race in 2009.
