Peyton Manning Officially Ruled Out For Texans Game, Colts’ Bill Polian Says

It's official: QB Peyton Manning's streak will end on Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts line up to play the Houston Texans. Colts executive Bill Polian confirmed Manning is indeed out for Sunday's game.

Though some won't believe it until QB Kerry Collins lines up under center on Saturday afternoon, this is about as official as it gets. Manning's consecutive games streak ends at 208 and this will mark the first regular season game he's started on the sidelines since he's been in the NFL.

Manning's 208 consecutive games played streak is incredibly impressive. CB Ronde Barber is next in line with 183 consecutive starts and the next quarterback in line is Peyton's brother, Eli Manning, who stands at 103 consecutive games started.

What a blow for the Colts. The situation is now focused on how long Manning will be out. If he misses just a game or two, and comes back healthy enough to be productive, then the Colts can still be considered among the teams fighting for the AFC South crown.

But if Manning misses more than just a couple of games, it could spell trouble for the Colts. They’re clearly not the same team without Manning and it’s hard to see them being competitive over the course of the season if Manning is missing more than a handful of games.

It’s going to be strange on Sunday to see the first quarterback not named Peyton Manning start for the Colts since Jim Harbaugh in December 1997.
