Nick Foles could get revenge, NFL Draft boost against Oklahoma State

When Arizona played Oklahoma State in the Alamo Bowl last year, Arizona quarterback Nick Foles wasn't his usual self despite completing 64 percent of his passes. Oklahoma State won a 36-10 blowout.

Foles will get a chance at redemption tonight when the Wildcats play against the Cowboys in Stillwater (8 p.m., ESPN). Kevin Weidl of Scouts Inc. mentioned on Twitter what Foles needs to do differently tonight:

Foles must do a better job of getting the ball out of his hands quicker for AZ 2 have a shot tmrw

OSU disguised intentions well which flustered Foles who on tape has trouble getting to 2nd and 3rd prog when # 1 is taken away. He’s especially correct on the first point. Foles had a tendency all of last season to hang onto the football too long because he wasn’t quickly scanning the field.

There are drastically opposing opinions when it comes to the draft status of the senior quarterback.

Tony Pauline, whose work is featured on SI.com, considers Foles a fourth-round prospect. Other “name” draft analysts agree, citing the pass-friendly offense Foles plays in. Then there are others who think Foles is a high first-round pick.

My opinion is that Foles is closer to the first round than the fourth. He has some fundamental flaws, and needs to build his football intelligence to work the whole field. But if he does that, the first round is a definite possibility. He has the arm and size to get there.

We’ll have a little more on the Oklahoma State/Arizona game later today.

He’s a bit of a liability in the run game, but his potential in the pass game was enough for Buffalo Rumblings.
