ESPN NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper updated his big board earlier in the week and there are a few notable happenings.
A few surprises in Mel Kiper’s big board update

Namely, Kiper dropped Alabama junior cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick from 14th to 20 in the 25-player list. Kirkpatrick gave up a couple of plays last week against Kent State last week. Still, his raw talent and size to be a superstar.
On Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN Radio today, Kiper said that Kirkpatrick needs “to step up and play better throughout the season.”
An even bigger dropper in Kiper’s ratings is Michigan State defensive tackle Jerel Worthy, who went from No. 9 to No. 19.
The big gainers for Kiper were Clemson defensive tackle Brandon Thompson (No. 16) and Oklahoma defensive end
. Neither were ranked before this week.
Predictably (and justifiably) Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck remains Kiper's No. 1 overall prospect followed by North Carolina defensive end Quinton Coples.
