2012 NCAA Bracket, Duke Vs. Lehigh: C.J. McCollum Just Became Famous

America; this is C.J. McCollum, take a moment and introduce yourself, C.J..

That’s essentially what’s going to be asked of Lehigh’s star guard for the next two days.

The excitement of the NCAA Tournament is coming through your TVs in earnest tonight, as Lehigh became the second No. 15 seed to beat a No. 2 seed in just the last four hours, with a stunning victory over the Duke Blue Devils, 75-70.

It was the program’s first NCAA Tournament victory ever.

A junior who has been cutting up Patriot League defenders for the past three seasons, McCollum took his talents to a national stage, finishing with 30 points on 9 of 22 shooting.

If you’re looking for a tournament darling, then look no further than this crafty perimeter scorer with a nutty handle. He was unquestionably the best player on the floor tonight.

A back and forth game that showed the resiliency of the Mountain Hawks, Lehigh held a lead as large as five in the second half, relinquished that lead, only to earn it back excellent shooting.

They pulled away by getting around Duke’s full-court press.

These are all really good things happening here, and all signs point to Lehigh being perfectly able to get past their next opponent, Notre Dame or Xavier, and advance to the Sweet 16.
