NCAA Tournament Scores: Temple And USF Engaged In Basketball-Like Rock Fight

You thought Texas’ 11-point first half was bad? Temple and USF combined for 34 points on the same court in Nashville on Friday night in the first half of their Second Round game. No. 5 Temple holds a 19-15 lead on No. 12 USF.

The box score for this one is more like an actuarial table, given how grim the numbers are:

  • USF went 3-for-27 in the first half, shooting 11.7 percent. Those are not typos.
  • The Bulls scored seven points on free throws and eight on field goals.
  • USF went 1-for-18 on two-pointers in the first half, or 5.5 percent. I bet if you go find a basketball and a friend to play defense, you will make more than one shot from inside the arc in your first 18.
  • The Bulls have more misses (24) and misses from inside (17) than Temple has shots (13).
  • Shaun Noriega is 1-1 for USF, making his only shot, a three. His effective field goal percentage is 150 percent.
  • Temple's Khalif Wyatt has made all six of his free throws. That's more makes than Temple has from the field (five).
  • USF went scoreless from the 18:16 mark to the 7:33 mark, or 10:43. Temple not scoring in the last 6:34 pales in comparison.

In summation, like we told you earlier, do not watch this game.
