The 2012 NCAA Tournament has named yet another team to the prestigious fourth round, colloquially termed the Sweet 16. The No. 1 Michigan St. Spartans will survive for at least one more round, despite an unlikely threat from the No. 9 Saint Louis Billikens. MSU picked up the win, 65-61, to advance.
2012 NCAA Bracket, Michigan State Vs. Saint Louis Final Score: Spartans Pick Up 65-61 Win To Advance
Despite being overmatched and overwhelmed throughout much of the game, the Billikens managed to stay in the game by drawing a multitude of fouls and hitting 18 of 23 free-throw attempts. They managed to close the gap to 51-49 heading into the final four minutes of regulation. The Spartans fought back in a big way, however, opening up a seven-point lead with 90 seconds remaining, thanks in part to a clutch three-pointer.
The Spartans now advance to the Sweet 16, where they will go up against the No. 4 seed Louisville Cardinals.
