Kendall Marshall Injury: UNC Guard Fractures Wrist In Win Over Creighton

Kendall Marshall suffered a fractured wrist in UNC’s win over Creighton, putting his status for the rest of the tournament in doubt.

North Carolina advanced to the Sweet 16 on Sunday, but received some terrible news following the game. Star guard Kendall Marshall suffered a fractured wrist in the Tar Heels' win over Creighton, putting his status in the NCAA Tournament going forward in doubt.

The news comes from Will Brinson.

Here’s where it happened:

This isn’t a good thing. A scaphoid fracture is an injury that takes a significant amount of time to heal, due to a lack of blood-flow to the area. It can be immobilized and braced with a cast in the meantime, but doing so is obviously problematic in the interim. In other words, it’s all but certain Marshall won’t be back on the court anytime soon.

Marshall is the second UNC player to suffer a wrist injury recently. John Henson is still bothered by his sprained wrist, suffered in the ACC Tournament about a week ago. Henson did play on Sunday, but appeared to be favoring his wrapped wrist throughout the game.

We’ll be back with more on Marshall’s injury and his recovery timetable as information becomes available.
