NCAA Tournament 2012, Florida Vs. Louisville: TV Schedule, Game Time And More

Louisville are playing spectacular defense, but will it matter against a Florida team that doesn’t bother to create great shots anyway?

Presswire

The West Region has been blown wide open by the Florida Gators and Louisville Cardinals, who both pulled off impressive upsets on Thursday to advance to the Elite Eight. Once they got to the Sweet 16, everyone really should have seen it coming. Billy Donovan has been to three Final Fours and Rick Pitino has never lost in the Sweet 16.

On paper, the matchup is an interesting one. Louisville isn’t a great offensive team, but they play spectacular perimeter defense. Florida’s shot selection isn’t great, but they’re a very fast team and they can shoot the lights out from behind the arc.

Not to belittle a team by calling them lucky, but Florida has been a little bit lucky during this tournament. They’re playing good defense, but they’ve played three straight games where there appeared to be a lid on the basket for their opponents. Virginia, Norlfolk State and Marquette just couldn’t make open shots to save their lives. Good news for Florida fans: It often looks like there is a lid on the basket during Louisville games.

Game Date/Time: Saturday, March 24, 4:30 p.m. ET

Venue: US Airways Center, Phoenix, Arizona

TV: CBS
