The Baylor Bears will be playing in the final day of Elite Eight action on Sunday and trying to punch their ticket for the Final Four in New Orleans as the 2012 NCAA Tournament draws to a close. As many eyebrows as the No. 3 seed Bears have been raising with their spectacular play, they have perhaps been raising even more with their gaudy-as-hell unique uniforms. On Sunday, the Bears will be sporting one of their awful, just awful fancy new unis as they take on the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats in the regional finals.

The official Baylor men’s basketball Twitter feed announced on Sunday that the team would be wearing their “blackout” uniforms in the game. You know, the ones with -- according to Baylor -- “electricity trim.” They have worn them in the tournament once before. You can see a picture of the uniform in action below:

Yep, black top with fluorescent, highlighter-yellow reflective panels and tiger-striped Zubaz-esque shorts. Just like the mighty bears that roam the wilds of Texas. I guess we can blame the Oregon Ducks football team for all of this DayGlo nonsense permeating the college sports landscape. Either way, they look like the image you got in your mind when Garfield used to pop up around Halloween and tell you to wear reflective strips on your clothing so you didn’t get hit by a semi while trick-or-treating. That’s making a statement.
(By the way, Baylor’s colors are green and gold. Guess which colors don’t appear in the above picture.)
