According to Jim Corbett of USA Today, lead NFL draft analyst Mike Mayock is among the experts who feels that Richardson to the Browns is a near lock.
Richardson could potentially transform an offense by adding a strong running game and seems like less of an inherent gamble than selecting Tannehill might be.

Richardson was unable to participate in on-field drills at the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis due to a minor offseason knee surgery, but did participate in Alabama’s second pro day on Thursday. He definitely impressed and is drawing further interest from at least three potential NFL suitors.

Others coming in for visits include quarterbacks Branden Weeden and Kirk Cousins, as well as Whitney Mercilus and David Wilson. Those players are likely under consideration for the Browns second first-round pick, or their second-round pick.

Richardson’s workout in particular will be watched closely considering he hasn’t done much since suffering a knee injury following the college football regular season.
Running backs have been devalued in recent years but Richardson’s draft stock has remained around the top 10, or even top-five range. He’s going to be a high pick and expected to contribute immediately. How high may depend at least in part in how he demonstrates to teams on Thursday how healthy his knee is following the minor surgery.
