On Monday, the NFL officially announced the teams that will receive compensatory picks in the 2012 NFL Draft. These extra draft picks are awarded to teams deemed to have lost significant players to free agency in July and August of 2011, weighed against signings made by the teams during that same time period. Note that players released or cut by teams do not factor into the formula used to award these picks.
