2012 NFL Draft Results: Stanford QB Andrew Luck Selected By Indianapolis Colts With 1st Pick

With the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts selected Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck. Luck is the No. 1 overall prospect in the draft, according to Mocking the Draft's rankings.

Luck has long been expected to be the No. 1 overall selection, even after the rise of Baylor Bears quarterback Robert Griffin III. Mocking the Draft sees little doubt as to why Luck was to be the correct choice:

Final word: It’s difficult to offer a fresh outlook on Andrew Luck. He’s been anointed the past two seasons as a once-a-decade quarterback prospect. His ceiling as a player may not be as high as Robert Griffin’s, but he comes out of college much more ready for the NFL. If for no other reason, that’s why he should be the No. 1 pick in the draft.

Now, Luck has to create his own way in the NFL, and he must do so in the shadow of one of the best ever: Peyton Manning. Luck surely appears up to that task.
