2012 NFL Draft Results: Cal P Bryan Anger Selected By Jaguars With 70th Overall Pick

With the 70th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected California punter Bryan Anger, which seems awfully high for even the best punters. Anger said recently that he was confident he would be drafted.

“I think I’m the top guy that’s going to go,” Anger said of his place among punters in the draft. “I’m pretty much guaranteed to get drafted.”

Here’s a scouting report from Pro Football Weekly:

Positives:

Powerful leg to drive punts downfield and send returners into retreat mode. Timely get-off. Is athletic and has good hands. Experienced, four-year punter. Pro work ethic.

Negatives:

Can work on placing punts with accuracy. Can be inconsistent striking the ball. Used to mild climate.

The Jaguars selected Oklahoma State WR Justin Blackmon with the 5th overall pick in the NFL Draft and Clemson DE Andre Branch with the 38th overall pick in the draft.
