2012 NFL Draft Results: Carolina Panthers Draft Josh Norman In 5th Round

The next round of picks of the 5th round of the 2012 NFL Draft are in. The last pick the Jacksonville Jaguars made was surprising everyone and taking a punter in the third round. Their next pick wasn't until No. 142 in the fifth round and the team decided to go with Nevada linebacker Brandon Marshall.

Just like they did with the quarterback position, the Washington Redskins doubled up on the offensive guard position trying to show up their interior offensive line by picking up Iowa offensive guard Adam Gettis. The Tennessee Titans trade up to pick No. 145 originally owned by the Miami Dolphins to pick tight end convert Taylor Thompson.

141. Washington Redskins: Iowa OG Adam Gettis, 6’2, 293 pounds

142. Jacksonville Jaguars: Nevada LB Brandon Marshall, 6'1, 242 pounds

143. Carolina Panthers: Coastal Carolina CB Josh Norman, 6', 197 pounds

Mocking The Draft on Norman:

Strengths: Has great height and length for a cornerback. Knows how to use his length to make a play on the ball and jam at the line. Plays with a lot of quickness and doesn’t get caught by surprise. Starred at the East-West Shrine Game and earned a late Senior Bowl invite.

Weaknesses: Not an especially physical cornerback and will need to fill out his frame more. Average as a tackler and will need to work on the fundamentals of wrapping up and driving through the ball carrier.

144. Buffalo Bills: Florida State OT Zebrie Sanders, 6'5, 320 pounds

Mocking The Draft on Sanders:

Strengths: Sanders is a lanky, athletic tackle who saw most of his playing time come on the right side. He uses his long arms to keep defenders from coming around the edge. Does a good job when he can get out and block on the move. Played left and right tackle.

Weaknesses: Won’t make it in the NFL if he can’t add strength to his frame, especially in his legs. Struggled at the Senior Bowl to hold up strong linemen and gets moved around. Overextends to make up for his lack of strength. Needs to improve footwork.

145. Tennessee Titans: SMU DE/TE Taylor Thompson, 6’6, 259 pounds
