2012 NFL Draft Results: Every Pick From 1 To 253

Schneider said on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Monday that he thought there was a “good chance” the Jets would’ve taken him with the next pick.

Immediately after the pick I thought it was a major reach, the draft’s first big reach. But some of the comments following the pick have made me think Irvin was more highly rated among those that actually make the picks.

The 2012 NFL Draft has been over for two days, so it seems like the perfect time to start thinking about 2013. Plan ahead, I always say. One season of college football will change this 2013 NFL mock draft dramatically. Injuries, disappointments, tasers and other things can really sink a player.

Alright, one more stab at predictions.

The 2012 NFL Draft is gone, and all that is left to do is analyze teams, assign grades, track undrafted free agents, and do things like examine where most of the players in the draft went to high school. Texas HS Football did just that, and found that the Lone Star State beat all comers.

In their listing of players selected in the 2012 NFL Draft by state, Texas placed first with 32 players selected, followed by Florida with 31 and California with 26. Ohio (18) and Georgia (13) rounded out the top five, and North Carolina (10), Illinois (eight), and Alabama and Washington (seven apiece) all had strong showings.

The 2012 NFL Draft wrapped up on Saturday evening. A total of 253 college football players heard their names called and will now have the chance to establish themselves as professionals.

The number of players selected at each position breaks down like this:

It was the SEC representing at the top of the round, with Justin Anderson from Georgia the first player off the board. This year’s Mr. Irrelevant, the honorary title bestowed upon the final pick in the draft, was Chandler Harnish, a quarterback from Northern Illinois.

Are there any future Tom Bradys in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft? The sixth round is now complete and there’s a good chance one of these players listed will be significantly better than where he’s currently projected. Every year, NFL scouts miss and a good player slips through the cracks.

The 4th round of the draft is all about depth. Teams select the players they think can eventually step in and become starters or at least useful role players that specialize in one situation or another. Occasionally, teams find a jewel in the 4th round.

The 1st round of the 2012 NFL Draft included 16 trades, including a number before the draft actually started. Back in March, the Redskins traded with the Rams for the No. 2 pick in the draft. Shortly before the 1st round of the 2012 NFL Draft started, the Browns skipped up one spot by trading with the Vikings.

From there trades broke out all over the place. The Jaguars moved up to Justin Blackmon. The Cowboys shocking went from No. 14 to No. 6 for Morris Claiborne. The Eagles moved from No. 12 to No. 15 for Fletcher Cox. Lots of trade movement in the 1st round of the 2012 draft.
