As expected, the San Diego Chargers will release offensive tackle Marcus McNeill before free agency starts at 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday afternoon. McNeill's release has been expected as he deals with injuries and has $10+ million due next season. McNeill's agent, Alvin Keels, confirmed the news via Twitter. Per Keels, McNeill has been cleared to resume playing by doctors.

McNeill now hits the open market where he should see a decent amount of interest in a weak offensive tackle market. His old team, the Chargers, are hoping to bring back Jared Gaither. Levi Brown and Eric Winston are other top tackles on the market.
McNeill was originally the Chargers second round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. He missed just two starts in his first four seasons but held out several games in 2010 due to contract issues with the uncapped year. He missed half the season in 2011 with injuries.
