Kevin Kolb Will Receive Bonus From Arizona Cardinals, According To Report

The Arizona Cardinals are not expected to land free agent QB Peyton Manning, which means they'll be sticking with QB Kevin Kolb, who was signed to a six-year, $65 million deal last season. Kolb had a $7 million option bonus due on Friday that was expected to be picked up if the team didn't land Manning.

According to ESPN’s Suzy Kolber, the Cardinals will in fact pick up Kolb’s option, which means he’ll be staying with the Cardinals. But they’ll also be restructuring his contract, according to the report. No word on exactly what that restructuring is, or what the new contract will look like.

Kolb was a bit of a disappointment last season playing in only nine games and completing just 57 percent of his passes. You can say the Cardinals paid Kolb too much money last season when Kolb had very little experience as a starting quarterback but $10 million per year is just the cost of acquiring a starting quarterback outside the draft.
