John Elway: Peyton Manning ‘Threw The Ball Great’

Free agent QB Peyton Manning met with John Elway and other members of the Denver Broncos on Friday afternoon at Duke University, where Manning has been working out with his former coach, David Cutcliffe. Elway and the Broncos are the second known team to see Manning work out after the 49ers reportedly put him through a workout earlier this week.

Elway has been more active on Twitter than any other NFL executive, so it shouldn't be surprising that he sent out this tweet after watching Manning throw:

We enjoyed visiting with Peyton today in N.C. He threw the ball great and looked very comfortable out there. Watching him throw today was the next step in this important process for our team and Peyton. It was a productive visit and went well.

The Denver Post reported interested teams are working off the five-year, $90 million contract Manning signed last year with the Colts. That hasn't fazed the Broncos from being one of three known finalists, including the Titans and 49ers.

The Broncos contingent included Elway, head coach John Fox, GM Brian Xanders and a medical team. There’s no known timetable for Manning’s decision and it’s still possible more teams jump into the mix, as the 49ers showed us on Friday.
