The week before the Super Bowl is a little strange for injury reports. The game is nine days away but the league still makes the New England Patriots and New York Giants submit injury reports for players, whether they’re out, doubtful, questionable or probable.
Super Bowl 2012: Patriots Injury Report Lists 16 Players
There’s really only one major injury question in this game and that’s Rob Gronkowski. The Patriots tight end has a high ankle sprain but he is expected to play. He may not be 100 percent, but he should play.
The Patriots listed the following players, including Gronkowski, as questionable: WR Deion Branch (knee), OT Marcus Cannon (ankle), S Patrick Chung (knee), LB Dane Fletcher (thumb), S James Ihedigbo (shoulder), DL Kyle Love (anke), G Logan Mankins (knee), LB Rob Ninkovich (hip), OT Nate Solder (concussion), Brandon Spikes (knee), OT Sebastian Vollmer (back/foot), WR Wes Welker (knee) and LB Tracy White (abdomen).
And these players were probable: C Dan Connolly (groin) and WR Matthew Slater (shoulder).
The Patriots will travel to Indy this weekend and then they’ll start another week of practice where we’ll see another week of injury reports.
