Super Bowl 2012: Tom Brady Regrets AFC Championship Game Comments

Two weeks ago, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady led his team to victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game. Brady threw two interceptions in the game and in an interview with CBS Sports after the game, he commented that he "sucked."

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston reports that Brady has had time to reflect on his postgame comments and now regrets what he said.

I wish I didn’t say it because I didn’t want to take away from what the team had accomplished, and certainly we had accomplished a lot to get to this point in this season, to beat a very good team in the AFC championship, to fight back like we did. We were down in that game. I think we proved how we’re a pretty mentally tough team.

Reiss notes that Brady also went to Patriots owner Robert Kraft following the Championship Game and promised to perform better against the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI. Brady has a reputation as a staunch perfectionist, but he now realizes that his comments may have undermined his team's accomplishments. I'm sure his fans are more than willing to let this one slide.
