Super Bowl Ticket Prices On Secondary Market Decline By 15 Percent

The average secondary market ticket price for Super Bowl XLVI between the New York Giants and New England Patriots is down 15 percent this year, Mason Levinson of Bloomberg News reports.

Face value for tickets to Super Bowl range from $800 to $1,200. The highest-priced ticket to to Super Bowl I topped out at $12 and did not crack the $100 barrier until the late 1980s. The $1,000 face value ticket price was surpassed during Super Bowl XLIII in 2009.

Citing data from www.tiqiq.com, which tracks listings from top online ticket resellers StubHub, TicketsNow, TicketNetwork and e-Bay, Levinson reports that seats at Lucas Oil Stadium are selling for $3,664 after peaking at $4,311 on January 27. The cheapest available ticket on the secondary market is going for $2,000.

Levinson adds that StubHub will have a ticket center near the stadium on Sunday.
