2012 Super Bowl Isn’t So Super For San Francisco 49ers Fans

If you’ve watched your favorite team come so close, yet fall short, you know this feeling. With two weeks between the NFL championship games and the Super Bowl, fans of the runner-ups have times to stew, second-guess and try to digest what went wrong. And the Super Bowl itself just isn’t so fun anymore for them.

Take San Francisco 49ers fans, who watched their team come up just short in the NFC Championship almost two weeks ago. Over at Niners Nation, David Fucillo let it all hang out as he explained why he hates this Super Bowl. And his reasoning makes sense and perhaps resonates with fans who have fallen just short.

I’ve got to think these last two weeks are tougher for the conference runner-ups because of how close they were. And this year, with the way both games went down, it’s a tough stretch for the Harbaugh family. So, yes, it makes me bitter. Not towards the 49ers because they gave me so much joy this season. Rather, it’s sort of a rally around the flag screw you to the rest of the world.

In the comments, one fan boldly proclaims it’s Puppy Bowl and nothing else. And you know what? Can’t really blame them, either. Knowing that could be, or should be, your team playing on the biggest stage is a painful feeling.
