Mark Herzlich Gets A Super Bowl Ring In Perhaps The Best Story Of The Game
New York Giants linebacker Mark Herzlich was not active for Super Bowl 46, but he will have a Super Bowl ring waiting for him next season. Herzlich has, perhaps, the best story of any player in the game and despite not playing in the Super Bowl, it’s a great finish to the season for the young man.
It’s been a wild year for Herzlich, who went undrafted, had to wait through the NFL lockout, then finally signed with the New York Giants. He even made his first NFL start in November against the Philadelphia Eagles. But the ride this year, even with the Super Bowl, doesn’t come close to the struggle Herzlich faced in the past.

The section of lower Broadway located in the Financial District, the Canyon of Heroes got its name because it’s become the customary location for the city to throw ticker-tape parades honoring everything from the end of World War II to the New York Yankee’s latest World Series celebration in 2009.
There are more than 200 granite black strips embedded in the street’s sidewalks, one for each of the celebrations that have occurred there.

Wes Welker really broken up about the missed big play. “it’s one I’ll have to live with,” he said, fighting back tears.
The Patriots played the 2011 NFL season with an “MHK” patch on their jerseys, a tribute to Myra Kraft, the late wife of Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Her portrait hanging in the New England locker room has no doubt contributed to the reportedly somber atmosphere.

You couldn’t ask for a better set up if you’re the Patriots: A blown coverage by the Giants on the biggest drive of the game, and the greatest QB of this generation throwing to his favorite receiver, Wes Welker. And that’s part of what makes the whole thing so cruel.
