The NFL released the list of underclassmen and as expected, a record number are in the draft. There are 65 in the draft this year, which tops last year’s record of 56. This is the fourth year in a row the number of underclassmen in the draft has increased.
Record 65 undeclassmen in 2012 NFL Draft
The list features a few new names that weren't previously publicized. That includes Minnesota tight end Tiree Eure, Purdue guard Ken Plue and Oklahoma State defensive back Johnny Thomas. The most intriguing new name is McNeese State safety Janzen Jackson. Before transferring from Tennessee, Jackson was expected to be the next Eric Berry. But he had some off-field issues and was eventually dismissed from the team in August. For McNeese this season, Jackson had 31 tackles, two interceptions, two tackles for loss and five pass breakups.
There are also two names mysteriously missing in Utah State running back Robert Turbin and Troy defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi. We’re trying to dig around and see what happened with these two.
