Washington RB Chris Polk entering 2012 NFL Draft

As most expected, running back Chris Polk will forgo his senior season at Washington and enter the 2012 NFL Draft. The news was broken by ESPN college football reporter Joe Schad.

“I’m ready to move on to the next phase of my life,” Polk said and Schad relayed via Twitter. “I may not be the biggest or the fastest but I will do whatever it takes to win.”

Polk was reportedly going back and forth on his decision to enter the draft. A strong performance in Washington’s Alamo Bowl loss to Baylor may have been enough to push Polk to the next level. In the game, Polk carried the ball 30 times for 147 yards and a touchdown.

On the season, Polk finished with 1,488 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns. It was his third consecutive year of more than 1,000 yards rushing.

Polk is rated as my fourth-best running back in the draft. He'll stay in that spot up until the draft, unless he has a dazzling combine or pro day performance. He's behind Alabama's Trent Richardson, Miami's Lamar Miller and Virginia Tech's David Wilson.
