Hall Of Famer Brooks Robinson Injured In Fall

The former Orioles third baseman fell off a stage at a dinner Friday night and suffered two fractures.

Brooks Robinson, the Hall of Fame third baseman for the Baltimore Orioles who thrilled many with his outstanding defense in the 1970 World Series, was injured in a fall Friday night:

Robinson, 74, was sitting on an elevated stage at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., during a dinner for the Joe DiMaggio Legends Game, according to the Post. Robinson leaned back against a curtain toward the back of the stage, but there was nothing behind the curtain to hold him up.Robinson fell off the stage, a six-to-eight foot drop, and was then treated by a doctor who happened to be at the event. He suffered two fractures in the tumble, including a broken clavicle, and was unable to attend the Legends Game as a result. There isn’t much more information available:

“I understand he is doing fine, but I really don’t know any more details other than that happened,” Kevin Janser, the executive vice president for the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, told the Post on Saturday.Best wishes from all of us at Baseball Nation to Robinson for a speedy recovery.
