Rutgers junior wide receiver Mohamed Sanu announced at a news conference today that he's entering the 2012 NFL Draft. That disproves a "report" by a free New York newspaper from last month that Sanu would return to school.
Rutgers WR Mohamed Sanu enters 2012 NFL Draft
This season, Sanu had 115 receptions for 1,206 yards and 7 touchdowns. He profiles as a very good No. 2 receiver in the NFL. He's not a dynamic playmaker and has questionable size. But other than Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon, Sanu may have the best hands in this year's draft.
He optimistically projects as a late first-round pick but gets out-shined by bigger, faster wide receivers like Blackmon and Notre Dame's Michael Floyd. Sanu was at his best this season when Rutgers ran him on shallow crossing routes. It showed Sanu isn't afraid to go over the middle and can make catches in traffic.
As a sophomore in 2010, Rutgers used Sanu as their Wildcat quarterback. He also has special teams experience.
