Peyton Manning conducted a sit down interview with ESPN's Trey Wingo on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after the conclusion of Super Bowl media day. Manning didn't give many details on his current situation and future as the Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback but he did drop a couple of notable tidbits.

There are really two issues at play here: Will he ever play again? And if he does will that be for the Colts?
First, he says he’s still hoping to be cleared to play -- at some point.
“The doctors and I have been in good constant communication,” Manning said. “We’re on the same page and I’m very encouraged by what they have said. I’ll see these guys for check-ups over the next few weeks and everything they’re saying though is right on point, everything looks good and I’ll be cleared and ready to go.”
Several reports have come out recently, including one from Yahoo! Sports, indicating that Manning’s health may never get to the point where he’s cleared to play which would ultimately lead to his retirement. Maybe that’s a possibility but he isn’t talking about that as an option right now.
Second, Manning said his relationship with Colts owner Jim Irsay is “great” despite the two of them communicating with each other in the media lately. He also said that he and Irsay will sit down and talk “probably after the Super Bowl” regarding his future. That doesn’t necessarily mean any decisions will be made, but they will be talking about it.
“It’ll happen soon and I’m sure you all will know when it does,” he said.
Manning has a $28 million roster bonus due on March 8 so that’s the key date to watch when it comes to his future.
