Former major league pitcher (and author) Dirk Hayhurst announced via his Twitter feed today that he'll be playing baseball in Italy this year. He tweeted multiple reasons, but his No. 1 sums it up best:

↵↵Things to know: 1 I would like to play in a different league every season, to experience the world as much as I can. Italy is a great start.↵↵Smart guy, that Garfoose. Good luck to him.
