Saturday, the Vancouver Canucks visit Boston to face the Bruins for the first time since losing Game 7 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. Of course, emotions will be running high (Vancouver turned into a war zone, for goodness sake), but before the Canucks shipped off to Boston, they had another important game on the schedule.
Wild Vs. Canucks: Vancouver Aces Pre-Boston Test In 3-0 Win Over Minnesota
Roberto Luongo earned a 28-save shutout for the Canucks as they prepared for a rematch with the Bruins in a 3-0 win over the Wild.
Wednesday, the Canucks blanked their Northwest Division rival, the Minnesota Wild, 3-0 in an important game for standings and morale.
Roberto Luongo, who allowed six goals over the final two games of the Stanley Cup Final, made 28 saves for his second shutout (both of which have come against the Wild), third straight shutout and fifth career against the Wild. It was his 700th career game as well.
After his poor and porous performance against the Bruins last summer, Luongo is surely chomping at the bit to get a chance at some sort of redemption, but head coach Alain Vigneault said that he would not name the starter until at least Friday. Perhaps good things come to those who wait?
