David Ferrer will look to win his third Heineken Open championship as play began Monday in New Zealand.

Last year’s Heineken Open champion, World No. 5 David Ferrer, went on to the semifinals of the Australian Open last year. Before setting his sights on another crack at a major championship, Ferrer will look to win his third Heineken Open championship, having won the title in 2011 and 2007.
To do that, Ferrer will have to go through a formidable field that includes seven fellow Spaniards, including Nicolas Almagro and Fernando Verdasco. Other competitors include Juan Ignacio Chela, Kevin Anderson, Thomaz Bellucci, Donald Young and Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Play began Monday and continues to January 14. The tournament is not being aired in the United States, but the Heineken Open can be viewed in its entirety online here.
