49ers vs. Jets, Week 4: Jets need drastic turnaround following Sunday’s defeat

The New York Jets were destroyed Sunday by the San Francisco 49ers, leaving both the fans and players demoralized.

Debby Wong-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The New York Jets were dominated from start to finish Sunday as they lost to the San Francisco 49ers, 34-0.

Mark Sanchez did not play well, completing only 13-of-29 passes for 103 yards and one interception. But, as Scott Salmon of SB Nation's New York Jets blog, Gang Green Nation, writes, Sanchez was given very little help.

This team’s depth is truly horrendous. We don’t have any playmakers left, no game-changers. Mark Sanchez CANNOT win with this team, and the fact is, neither can Tim Tebow.

The season has started poorly and the product on the field was hard to watch Sunday, but, in Salmon’s eyes, that’s no excuse for the lack of support from the New York Jet faithful.

And the worst part of it are the Jets fans. I wasn’t at the game, but when the game began half the stadium was filled by 49ers fans. By the end of the game, the entire stadium was red. That is PATHETIC. I don’t care if my team is getting blown out. I don’t care if we’re being led by Rich Kotite. It is pathetic to give your home field advantage up like that to another team. Disgusting. That’s what I’m most angry about from this game.

The Jets need a drastic turn around if they plan to salvage the 2012 season. Their next contest comes next week against the undefeated Houston Texans
