Despite Derek Jeter being in obvious pain Wednesday night, and Alex Rodriguez leaving the game for eventual hero Raul Ibanez, both are in the Game 4 lineup submitted by manager Joe Girardi (* indicates left-handed hitter, # indicates switch-hitter):
Jeter, A-Rod both in Yankees’ Game 4 lineup
Derek Jeter, DH
Ichiro Suzuki, LF *
Mark Teixeira, 1B #
Robinson Cano, 2B *
Alex Rodriguez, 3B
Nick Swisher, RF #
Russell Martin, C
Curtis Granderson, CF *
Jayson Nix, SS
This lineup will be facing Orioles lefthander Joe Saunders, who was the starting and winning pitcher in the wild-card game last Friday in which he threw 5⅔ innings, allowing just one run. Saunders had a similar start against the Yankees September 8 in Baltimore, throwing 5⅓ innings, giving up two runs. Overall, current Yankees are hitting .303 (67-for-221) against Saunders with 13 home runs -- three of them by Nix, the most by any current Yankee against him.
Phil Hughes gets starting duty for the Yankees in this potential series-clinching game.
