Orioles’ Game 5 lineup: same as the first, with a twist

The Baltimore Orioles will be facing CC Sabathia Friday night in Game 5 of the ALDS against the New York Yankees. The Orioles faced Sabathia in Game 1 of this series. And so, manager Buck Showalter is sending out the same nine players who faced Sabathia before, to face him again (* indicates left-handed hitter, # indicates switch-hitter):

1. Nate McLouth * - LF
2. J.J. Hardy - SS
3. Adam Jones - CF
4. Chris Davis * - RF
5. Matt Wieters # - C
6. Manny Machado - 3B
7. Mark Reynolds - 1B
8. Lew Ford - DH
9. Robert Andino - 2B

While these are the same nine players, they are not batting in the same order they did in Game 1. Chris Davis moves up from seventh to cleanup; Matt Wieters drops a place from fourth to fifth, and Mark Reynolds, down from fifth to seventh.

Will this make the difference for Baltimore, who managed just eight hits and two runs off Sabathia in Game 1? Showalter and the entire Orioles fanbase hope so.

Jason Hammel, who started Game 1 against Sabathia, takes the mound again against him for Game 5.
